Chlorine & Salt Systems

Chlorination

Chlorine is a chemical used to keep swimming pools and spas free of bacteria that can be dangerous to people.Chlorine kills bacteria though a chemical reaction. The chlorine solution breaks down into many different chemicals = hypochlorous acid (HOCl) and hypochlorite ion (OCl-) are two of them. Both kill microorganisms and bacteria by attacking the lipids in the cell walls and destroying the enzymes and structures inside the cell, leaving them oxidized and safe to people. One difference between HOCl and OCl- is how fast they oxidize. Hypochlorous acid is able to oxidize the organisms in several seconds, while the hypochlorite ion can take as long as 30 minutes. The levels of HOCl and OCl- vary with the pool's pH level. If the pH is too high, not enough HOCl is present and pool cleaning can take much longer than normal. The optimal level of pH in the pool should be between 7 and 8; 7.4 is the goal -- this is the pH of human tears. Though cost effective and its ability to kill bacteria, chlorine also has some downsides. Chlorine has a very distinctive smell, and some find overwhelming. It can also cause itching in some skin types.

Salt-Chlorination

There are alternatives to chlorine, like salt chlorination and ion generators. Some of these are great alternatives. When using Salt Chlorination, like with the Aqua Rite system from Hayward, you can say goodbye to red eyes, and itchy skin. Ultimately the choice is yours but Premier Pools will be here with all the options and answers to your questions to guide you to an informed decision.

Pumps & Heaters

Pumps &Heating Solutions

The pump is the main part of the swimming pool circulation system. The pump pushes water into the filtration system and then back out again. Several things will effect how much time you need to run the pump/filtration system such as the size of the pool, how often it's used, and its exposure to outside elements. Conserving energy is important to everyone. At Premier Pools we are here to guide you to selecting the best energy efficient solution for your pool system needs. We have top of the line products from Hayward that are backed by the 3 year Totally Hayward warranty. We can stand with Hayward because the quality and reputation of there products precedes them. By using such great products in our pools we have built a good reputation ourselves, and that is good business.

Pool Heater Pumps

Heat pumps use electricity to capture heat and move it from one place to another. They don't generate heat. As the pool pump circulates the swimming pool's water, the water drawn from the pool passes through a filter and the heat pump heater. The heat pump heater has a fan that draws in the outside air and directs it over the evaporator coil. Liquid refrigerant within the evaporator coil absorbs the heat from the outside air and becomes a gas. The warm gas in the coil then passes through the compressor. The compressor increases the heat, creating a very hot gas that then passes through the condenser. The condenser transfers the heat from the hot gas to the cooler pool water circulating through the heater. The heated water then returns to the pool. The hot gas, as it flows through the condenser coil, returns to liquid form and back to the evaporator, where the whole process begins again.Heat pump pool heaters work efficiently as long as the outside temperature remains above the 45ºF–50ºF range. The cooler the outside air they draw in, the more energy they use. However, since most people use outdoor swimming pools during warm and mild weather, this usually isn't an issue

Selecting a Pool Heat Pump

Heat pump pool heaters cost more than gas pool heaters, but they typically have much lower annual operating costs because of their higher efficiencies. With proper maintenance, heat pump pool heaters typically last longer than gas pool heaters. Therefore, you'll save more money in the long run. When selecting a heat pump pool heater, you should consider its

Sizing a Pool Heat Pump

You should have a trained pool professional perform a proper sizing analysis for your specific swimming pool to determine pool heater size.Sizing a heat pump pool heater involves many factors. Basically, a heater is sized according to the surface area of the pool and the difference between the pool and the average air temperatures. Other factors also affect the heating load for outdoor pools, such as wind exposure, humidity levels, and cool night temperatures. Therefore, pools located in areas with higher average wind speeds at the pool surface, lower humidity, and cool nights will require a larger heater.Heat pump pool heaters are rated by Btu output and horsepower (hp). Standard sizes range from 8,000 BTU to 150,000 BTU

Solar Heating

Beginning in 1977,  Helio revolutionized solar pool heating by developing the world’s first collector with individual tubes. The advantages were immediately obvious; improved efficiency, unmatched wind resistance and better roof protection.Heliocol’s phenomenal wind resistance led to the first strapless mounting system. Other panels, which lift like a sail or an airplane wing in heavy winds, require multiple straps to hold the panel to the roof. Heliocol, on the other hand, is secured directly to the roof trusses with our patented Gator clamp. This mounting system is not only more stable, but requires significantly fewer penetrations into your roof.Heliocol was the first solar pool heating system to connect panels using a breakthrough plastic polymer clamp. Our patented panel clamp is a sophisticated replacement for old-style rubber hoses and metal clamps. Unlike rubber hoses, which can degrade and stain your roof, and metal clamps, which require regular rooftop service, our clamps offer the only maintenance-free solution
